All actors must sign up at https://thescaregrounds.hauntscheduler.com
Actor Orientation
There will be three actor orientation sessions. Attending at least one meeting is required.
The first one will be held at 6:30 on September 18th at 120 SW Glacier Avenue, Redmond.
Acting positions will be limited this year so plan to attend a training meeting. There will also be a meeting on September 25 at 6:00 pm.
Opening night is October 4th at 7 pm.
We will begin assigning acting roles at the orientation sessions. Preference will be given to those who were with us in the past and those who sign up early.
If you would like to act, work with make-up, costumes, or construction. A waiver form must be completed by all actors and if you are under 18 your parent or guardian must sign the waiver. Waiver must be turned in to be able to participate.
Contacting Friends
If you are aware of friends who want to act this year, who would not be on our email list because they are new, please forward this email to them and have them reply to me.
Release of Liability and Damage Waiver Form
As was the case last year, we need to have all volunteers provide us with a signed waiver form. If you are 18 or older, you can personally sign this form. If you are younger than 18, please have a parent or guardian sign. Please bring the signed form with you when you attend Actor Orientation.
Make-Up Artists. Do you enjoy creating ghouls, zombies, ghosts, vampires, and the like? Do you
have experience using an air brush make-up system? We will be using both air brush and traditional
make-up techniques.
Actors. Do you have a good scare in you? Do any of your friends? Actors are the backbone (and perhaps the whole skeleton) of our haunts. For many, it's also the most fun type of involvement. Think of it this way, if you don't sign up, your friends will be scaring you! Typically, we ask that actors be at least 15 years of age, although we sometimes do want and need younger characters.
Support Staff. We are looking for individuals willing to serve behind-the-scenes as Haunt Section Managers, and to provide general haunt support with snacks and beverages, equipment checks, costumes and other "as needed" front-of-house and back-of-house support to help ensure smooth operations.
1. How old do you have to be to be an actor?
ACTOR AGE MINIMUM REQUIREMENT IS USUALLY 13. HOWERVER, WE DO HAVE YOUNGER ACTORS BUT THEY MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A SUPERVISING ADULT FOR EACH PERFORMANCE.
WE HAVE ADULT ACTORS WHO ARE A GREAT HELP IN SUPERVISING OUR YOUTH ACTORS.
2. How long each night do I need to plan on for acting?
IN THE EARLIER WEEKENDS, WE ARE USUALLY OPEN FROM 7-9ISH. THE LAST TWO WEEKS OF THE MONTH WE CAN BE THERE UNTIL 10 -11. COMMITTMENT IS FOR A FULL NIGHT MEANING NO-ONE LEAVES EARLY. WE WANT OUR GUESTS TO ALL HAVE A FULLY SCARY EXPERIENCE.
3. Do actors do there own makeup or have to provide their own costumes?
WE HAVE MAKEUP ARTISTS WHO DO SOME VERY SCARY MAKEUP ILLUSIONS. ACTORS ARRIVE BETWEEN 5:15 PM AND 6:15 PM TO GET THEIR MAKEUP DONE AND IN COSTUME.
COSTUMES ARE PROVIDED BUT LAYERD DARK CLOTHING IS RECOMMENDED FOR MOST ACTING POSITIONS. WE WILL ASSIGN COSTUMES DURING TRAINING SESSIONS AND ADVISE ON ANY COSTUME NEEDS.
4. Do actors need to bring anything with them each night?
IT IS RECOMMENDED TO BRING BOTTLED WATER TO GET YOUR THROAT HYDRATED THROUGOUT THE NIGHT.
5. What happens at the end of the night?
WHEN THE SIGNAL IS GIVEN FOR "SHOW'S OVER", COSTUMES ARE CHECKED BACK IN WITH OUR COSTUME SUPERVISER AND EACH NIGHT VARIOUS SPONSERS PROVIDE FOOD FOR A SNACK AFTER ALL THE FUN TIMES OF SCARING.
